By Heidi Majano, Executive Director of the Peaceful World Foundation
Over the last few weeks, we’ve been having conversations online around the themes of self care and building healthy habits. I was encouraged to do something different and offer a few tips that I found useful during our time of transitions at the foundation.
From moving our office space to building a new website to envisioning our online events and allocating funding, leading our organization forward during times of uncertainties was a demanding task.
I embraced the demand by taking an intention of work at a time and that included taking initiative to incorporate self care into the mix.
Here are the 5 tips that I incorporated in my routine during our transition:
1 -Staying Creative
Staying Creative includes being engaged with life and being open to new questions and to new possibilities. By staying more grounded in creativity, I rediscovered healthy ways of expression.
2 -Exercise and Staying Hydrated
Staying hydrated and incorporating a regular work out routine keeps me feeling healthy although sometimes I just eat a bag of chips with salsa dip. Working towards consistency is a daily practice.
3 -Staying Connected with your Community
Taking a walk with local friends strengthen community bonds. Localizing our efforts begins with a good conversation.
Buy and invest locally, I did.
4 -Rest and Recover
Reading, doodling, holding a puppy, listening to music or writing in a journal were the many ways I found rest.
Reading on a bench in a park under a shady tree is next on my list.
5 -Deepening One’s Practice
Being under a twilight sky brought me closer to a quieter place.
Lately, I’ve been reflecting on love and how we celebrate our Love to Earth.
